2022 Chignik Salmon Fishery
Disaster Relief Second Draft Spend Plan

On May 24, 2024, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce made a disaster determination for the Alaska Chignik Salmon Fishery, 2022, under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act in response to a January 5, 2024, request from Governor Dunleavy. On June 10, 2026, NOAA Fisheries allocated $18.5 million to address losses to the affected management areas.

In July 2026, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) posted an initial draft spend plan for public comment and received 11 written comments. ADF&G revised the plan based on public comments and is now requesting public comments from affected stakeholders. Comments should be received by November 20, 2026, to be considered for the final spend plan.

This is the last opportunity to provide comments.

The final spend plan will be sent to Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC), the administrator of the federal grant for the disaster funds. Once the federal grant has been approved, PSMFC can begin the fund distribution process.
